ABACUS Workshops

DRIVE partners with ABACUS Counselling, Training and Supervision to offer free learning opportunities for people in our network.

Peter Thorburn is the preferred facilitator for these workshops and brings professional expertise alongside his own lived experience of addiction and recovery.

Workshop topics are selected in response to the interests and learning needs of the DRIVE network.

Previous and current topics include:

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • communication and de-escalation

  • group facilitation

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • assertiveness

  • leadership

  • pathways to addiction

  • drugs, signs and symptoms

  • suicide prevention

  • privacy and ethics.
